Dhaka: Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal is set to depart from Dhaka tonight to join the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference will take place from September 13 to 19.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a five-member parliamentary delegation from Bangladesh, headed by Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal, will participate in the discussions. This delegation includes BNP MPs Humam Quader Chowdhury and Sakila Farzana, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami MP Md. Mahbubul Alam, and Secretary of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, who will act as the secretary to the delegation.
The conference will see participation from parliamentarians and representatives of Commonwealth countries, focusing on the theme "Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership."
During the event, the Deputy Speaker is scheduled to engage in bilateral meetings with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly, and Alan Winde, Premier of South Africa's Western Cape province. The Bangladesh delegation may also meet with representatives from other participating countries and take part in various workshops aimed at reinforcing parliamentary democracy.
The delegation plans to return to Dhaka on September 20.
