Chapainawabganj:Health Services Division Secretary Dr. ANM Bazlur Rashid has announced that the dengue situation in the country is likely to be brought under control by the end of October. This statement was made during his inspection of the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Rashid attributed the increased prevalence of dengue this year to frequent intermittent rainfall. He emphasized that the number of dengue infections had not risen suddenly, noting that large numbers of people were affected in previous years as well.

Dr. Rashid assured that patients are receiving proper treatment and that there are adequate supplies of medicines, saline, and other necessary equipment in hospitals. Despite Chapainawabganj being a dengue hotspot, he stated that the situation is not yet out of control but urged everyone to remain cautious to prevent infection.

Special cleanliness drives are being conducted across the country to manage the dengue situation, with regular visits to identified hotspots. Dr. Rashid's visit to Chapainawabganj is part of this initiative, as the district is one of the major red zones with over 150 dengue patients admitted today.

Public awareness is deemed critical, with Dr. Rashid advising people to keep their surroundings clean and prevent rainwater accumulation. He also stressed the importance of using mosquito nets both at home and in hospitals.

During his visit, Dr. Rashid inspected various areas of the hospital and held discussions with health department officials, physicians, and political leaders. Among those present were Chapainawabganj Deputy Commissioner Abu Saleh Md Musa Zangi, Zilla Parishad Administrator Harunur Rashid, and Civil Surgeon Dr. AKM Shahab Uddin.
