Dengue Prevention Awareness Workshop Conducted in Khulna

Khulna: A dengue prevention awareness workshop was held at the auditorium of the Islamic Foundation Khulna Divisional Office on Wednesday afternoon. The workshop emphasized the importance of dengue prevention and the role of religious leaders in disseminating protective measures against the disease.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun attended the workshop as the chief guest. In his address, the divisional commissioner highlighted the necessity of raising public awareness to combat the spread of dengue. He explained that an Aedes mosquito becomes a carrier of the dengue virus after biting an infected person and can transmit the virus to healthy individuals through subsequent bites.

Commissioner Harun urged participants to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings, identify potential mosquito breeding sites, and conduct regular cleanliness drives as preventive measures against dengue. The workshop was presided over by Islamic Foundation Khulna Divisional Director Mohammad Mahiuddin Majumder.

The event also featured attendance by special guests including Md Anisuzzaman Sikdar from the Translation and Compilation Department, Md Bazlur Rashid from the Planning Department, and Khulna Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shawkat Ali. Organized by the Islamic Foundation Khulna Divisional Office, the workshop brought together deputy directors of the Islamic Foundation from all 10 districts of Khulna division, imams of model mosques, superintendents of Qawmi madrasas, Islamic scholars, and foundation officials and employees.

Earlier in the day, Divisional Commissioner Abdullah Harun inaugurated a dengue awareness programme and a cleanliness drive on the premises of the Islamic Foundation Khulna Divisional Office.
