Dengue Outbreak Intensifies in Bangladesh with 1 Fatality and 430 New Cases Overnight

Dhaka: Health officials today reported 430 new cases of dengue, resulting in one death over the past 24 hours.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued a statement detailing the distribution of the new cases. Out of the 430 newly recorded dengue infections, 72 patients were hospitalized in the Barishal division, 79 in the Chattogram division, and 54 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital. In the capital itself, 63 cases were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 57 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additional cases included 46 in the Khulna division, 12 in the Mymensingh division, 42 in the Rajshahi division, three in the Rangpur division, and two in the Sylhet division.



Since the onset of the current dengue outbreak, Bangladesh has experienced 115 fatalities and 28,632 cases. Comparatively, last year’s dengue season resulted in 575 deaths and affected 101,214 people across the country.
