Noakhali: Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Adviser to the BNP Chairperson, President of the Supreme Court Bar Council, and Member of Parliament (MP), today asserted that democracy cannot be realized while millions remain impoverished. “The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has prioritized the fulfillment of the public’s basic needs as a core component of its election promises,” he stated during a distribution event of Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) rice to the destitute in Noakhali district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BNP leader distributed 10-kilogram bags of VGF rice to the ultra-poor across the Sonaimuri and Chatkhil upazilas of the district. Barrister Khokon emphasized that the party’s current relief initiatives mirror its commitment to ensuring the fundamental rights of the citizenry.
He further stressed the necessity of transparency in relief management, urging that government-allocated resources, including rice and dates, should be delivered to genuine beneficiaries such as orphans and those truly in need, rather than being distributed superficially.
The distribution programme saw the attendance of Sonaimuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nasrin Akhtar, Bajra Union BNP Convener Omar Faruk, and Sonaimuri Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Convener Nasir Uddin Nasir. Several local union parishad members and regional political leaders were also present to assist in distributing aid to the local destitute population.
