Dhaka: Former Chief Justice Syed J. R. Mudassir Husain today emphasized that democracy is the fundamental pillar for the nation’s citizens. “It (democracy) is not just a system of governance, but a culture. The main objective of good governance is to ensure an environment of equal opportunity, security and respect for all,” he stated during a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discussion titled ‘The Complete Journey of Democracy: Urgent Reforms, National Parliament Elections and Good Governance’ was organized by the Universal News Agency (UNA). Syed J. R. Mudassir Husain highlighted the importance of creating an electoral system where every citizen can vote freely and proudly, asserting that democracy cannot be achieved without efficient and fair state governance.
