Chattogram:The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3 due to a deep depression in the Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the depression was located about 940 km southwest of Chattogram, 920 km southwest of Cox's Bazar, 755 km southwest of Mongla, and 785 km southwest of Payra at noon on Wednesday. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and cross the North Andhra Pradesh - South Odisha coasts of India by tonight.
The weather system could cause squally weather affecting the maritime ports, the North Bay, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. The maximum sustained wind speed near the depression center is about 50 kph, with gusts or squalls reaching up to 60 kph. The sea is projected to remain rough close to the depression center.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
