Rajshahi: District Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a drug dealer with 1,000 yaba tablets during a raid in the Kakanhat Bazar area of Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi. The arrest took place late Friday night on the paved road in front of the Kakanhat Food Warehouse. The individual taken into custody is Shariful Islam Sharif, aged 30, and a resident of Balurtungi village in Shibganj Upazila, Chapainawabganj district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police received a tip-off which led a team from the Rajshahi District DB, led by SI Mehedi Hasan, to conduct an anti-drug operation in and around Safina Park at approximately 12:40 AM. Acting on further intelligence, the team proceeded to the Kakanhat Bazar area to continue their operation.
During the raid, Shariful Islam Sharif attempted to evade the police but was apprehended at 1:20 AM. A search of his person revealed 1,000 yaba tablets concealed in a white polythene bag located in the front right pocket of his pants.
The police confirmed that a case has been filed against Shariful under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, at the Godagari Police Station.
