Rajshahi: A daylong education fair under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor Programme took place at Rajshahi University (RU), aiming to boost academic and professional collaboration between the two neighboring countries. RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib inaugurated the event as the chief guest, with Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan participating as special guests. Distinguished guests included Pakistan’s Higher Education Director Jehan Jeb Khan and Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission Kamran Dangal.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fair witnessed participation from fifteen leading universities from Pakistan, offering RU students insights into 500 fully funded scholarships provided by the Pakistan government for Bangladeshi students. Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib highlighted the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor’s role in fortifying educational and professional bonds through scholarships, joint research, and training programs for civil servants. He also emphasized the initiative’s goal to enhance academic and cultural connections, foster partnerships based on shared history, and encourage mutual learning through student exchanges and collaborative research.

Jehan Jeb Khan elaborated on the programme’s commitment to offering 500 scholarships over five years for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in Pakistan, with a special allocation of 25 percent for medical studies. He mentioned that the programme would also provide training for 100 Bangladeshi civil servants in disciplines like public sector management, public policy, and project management. Furthermore, the initiative plans to deepen cooperation through academic exchanges, joint research, and an expansion of existing scholarship opportunities, including increasing slots under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme from five to 25. The programme aims to create avenues for students and scholars to learn from each other and strengthen bilateral ties.
