Chattogram: The Followers of Mirzarkhill Darbar Sharif of Satkania upazila, Chilcilia Aliya Jahangir Peer, and Shah Sufi Darbar Sharif at Elahabad of Chandanish upazila in Chattogram district have commenced their Ramadan fasting today, aligning with the moon sighting observed in Saudi Arabia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, disciples from these Mazar-centric Muslim religious communities in 62 villages have begun their Ramadan rituals, which include daylong fasting. This practice follows a long-standing tradition of observing the Ramadan calendar in accordance with Middle Eastern countries.
The villages participating in this early start to Ramadan primarily include areas under Patiya, Chandanaish, Satkania, Anwara, Banshkhali, Fatikchari, and Sitakunda in Chattogram, as well as Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar and several villages in Feni district.
Furthermore, in keeping with their tradition, the followers of these Darbar Sharifs typically celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr a day earlier than others, maintaining their alignment with the Middle-Eastern countries’ observance.
