Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to increase the salary and the match fees of the cricketers. The Test cricketers will get little more than other cricketers, a decision that was approved in the BCB’s meeting on Monday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, cricketers currently earn Taka two lakh as a match fee for T20, Taka three lakh for ODI, and Taka six lakh for Test matches. Although there was a proposal to increase the match fee last year, it did not materialize, but a performance bonus was introduced. A total of 21 cricketers were given central contracts, but the BCB did not disclose their remuneration.

The names of those who will be in the central contract this year were finalized in the recent meeting. However, the BCB did not specify the number of players who will be contracted. After the board meeting, BCB’s Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin Fahim stated that the number of players under contract could change after a review. He confirmed the increase in salaries and match fees, highlighting that Test cricketers will receive a slightly higher increase.

Fahim emphasized the importance of maintaining player interest, revealing that contracted cricketers will receive increased salaries starting January this year. The board also approved the salary contract for 100 first-class cricketers for the year 2025.

The BCB expressed satisfaction with the national team’s coaching staff, including Head Coach Phil Simmons and Senior Assistant Coach Mohammad Salahuddin, whose contracts extend until the Champions Trophy. Fahim indicated the board’s interest in renewing their contracts, while also mentioning the search for a high-quality fielding coach.

The board accepted the resignation of national team selector Hannan Sarkar, who left to focus on his coaching career. The BCB has initiated the search for a third selector to join Gazi Ashraf Hossain and Abdur Razzak.

In its 18th board meeting, the BCB approved the formation of the BCB Welfare Trust and its Trustee members. Additionally, the board appointed former national athlete and Olympian Fouzia Huda Jui as the National Women’s Team Strength and Conditioning Coach for six months. The international cricket stadium at Purbachal, an ongoing project, has been renamed the National Cricket Ground (NCG).
