Dhaka: The Constitution Reform Commission (CRC) today engaged in separate meetings with leaders of professional bodies and constitutional experts as part of its ongoing consultations with stakeholders on the reform of the constitution. This initiative marks the fourth consecutive day of discussions, held at the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, according to an official release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CRC began the day by meeting with National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz, Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) organizing secretary Dr. Sayeed Mehbub Ul Qadir, Doctors Platform for People’s Health (DPPH) vice-president Dr. Foyjul Hakim, and member Dr. Md. Harun-Rashid. The afternoon session included discussions with Justice Md. Abdul Matin, Adv Hasnat Qaium, Professor K Shamsuddin Mahmud, and Law Commission Adviser AK Mohammad Hossain.
The meetings, presided over by CRC chairman Professor Ali Riaz, also included participation from CRC members Prof Sumaiya Khayer, Barrister
Imran Siddique, Prof Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan, Barrister M Moin Alam Ferozi, Firoz Ahmed, and Md Mustain Billah. These engagements are part of the CRC’s broader efforts to gather diverse perspectives on constitutional reforms.
Previously, the CRC has conducted meetings with eminent citizens and representatives from rights bodies to discuss constitutional amendments. The commission plans to continue these consultations with various personalities and organizations in the coming days.
