Narail: A court here today rejected the bail plea of former Narail-1 lawmaker Kabirul Haque Mukti and ordered him to be sent to jail in connection with a subversive acts case. Mukti was presented before Judicial Magistrate Ratna Saha in relation to a case filed at Kalia Thana on September 12 last year. After hearing the arguments, the magistrate denied the bail petition and directed that he be sent to jail.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mukti was apprehended from Dhaka’s Niketon area on September 24 and was transported to Narail from Dhaka Central Jail on October 14. He appeared before the same court on October 15 concerning two other cases, where the court once more rejected his bail petitions and ordered him to remain in custody.
On the same day, Mukti faced Judicial Magistrate Maruf Hassan for two cases linked to Naragati Thana. In these instances as well, the court dismissed his bail petitions and mandated his detention.
