Dhaka:A court has issued a travel ban on Siddique Nazmul Alam, the former general secretary of the now-banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir granted the order following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC's application stated that they are investigating allegations against Alam for earning money through illegal means and attempting to legitimize it by transferring it to various bank accounts. These accounts were reportedly operated under his name and those of individuals connected to his interests. The investigation also involves suspicions of illegal wealth acquisition and money laundering.
The commission further noted that reliable sources indicated Alam was attempting to leave the country. The application emphasized the necessity of preventing him from traveling abroad to ensure a proper investigation.
