Gopalganj:A tragic accident claimed the lives of a couple at Majhigati bus stand on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the Kashiani upazila this afternoon when they were run over by a bus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims were identified as Solaiman Molla, 70, and his wife Shahida Begum, 60, both residents of the Deola area in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur district. The couple had just disembarked from a bus coming from Dhaka and were crossing the highway when a speeding bus hit them and fled the scene, resulting in their immediate deaths.
Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Kashiani Police Station, reported that upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene to recover the bodies. The bodies were subsequently transferred to Bhanga Highway Police Station.
The formalities will be completed, and the bodies will be returned to the family members following the necessary legal procedures.
