Narayanganj: Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Managing Director Kazi Rawnaqul Islam addressed reporters on Monday, asserting that the nation could undergo significant change if it can dismantle what he referred to as a 'system of plunder.' He emphasized that breaking free from this system would lead to widespread solutions and beneficial outcomes for the country's populace.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Kazi Rawnaqul Islam made these remarks during an inspection of a DND canal project in Fatullah, Narayanganj. The Managing Director highlighted the potential improvements in climate and environmental resilience facilitated by the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, which is financing the project to protect local communities.
While inspecting the construction of walkways along the DND canal in Bhuighar and Shahibazar, Rawnaqul noted that despite some procedural flaws, the overall project approach is promising. He expressed confidence that local residents would benefit once the project reaches completion.
Rawnaqul also stressed the necessity for effluent treatment plants (ETPs) in nearby factories, cautioning against the high costs of central ETPs and advocating for individual installations. He stated that no factory should operate without an ETP and that a system is being developed to ensure ETPs function as long as factories are in operation.
