DHAKA, Feb 9, 2017 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said the country would achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the stipulated time as like attaining of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) successfully.
"World community has lauded Bangladesh for attaining of the MDGs successfully. We will also achieve SDGs through successful implementation of the Seventh Five Years Plan (SFYP)," he said.
The commerce minister told the preliminary session titled "Linking Business with the Sustainable Development Goals: What can we do?" of the "Asia-Pacific Business Forum 2017" at Sonargaon hotel in the city, said a press release.
Tofail said the government has taken SFYP in line with the important issues of SDGs. "So that, the successfully implementation of SFYP will play vital role to achieve SDGs," he added.
He, however, said Bangladesh has already achieved remarkable success in various socioeconomic indicators, including poverty alleviation and education, for taking time-befitting initiatives by the present government.
The minister said Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attain the development goals Vision 2021, Vision 2041 and SDGs.
