DHAKA: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today emphasized the necessity for more entrepreneurs to drive the nation's development. Speaking at the closing ceremony of 'Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024', organized by the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Daffodil University, Dr. Podder highlighted the pivotal role that entrepreneurship plays in national progress. He noted the encouraging rise of new entrepreneurs and stressed the importance of implementing both public and private initiatives to prevent these talents from seeking opportunities abroad. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the week-long event saw the participation of approximately one crore individuals through more than 40,000 events. Specifically in Bangladesh, Global Entrepreneurship Network-Bangladesh (GEN-Bangladesh) hosted over 500 events in collaboration with over 50 partner organizations. These events engaged 100,000 youths directly and reached an additional 300,000 participants digitally. The ceremony featured a range of prominent speakers, including GEN-Bangladesh Managing Director and Daffodil University founder Dr. Md Sabur Khan, International Labour Organisation specialist Gunjan Dallakati, Microsoft's Bangladesh Managing Director Yusuf Faruque, and Bangladesh Venture Capital Ltd CEO Showkat Hossain. Bangladesh Federation of Women's Entrepreneurship President Dr. Rubina Hossain and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department Head Mohammad Kamruzzaman also addressed the gathering. The event was chaired by KM Hasan Ripon, the national host of the week and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Skill Development Institute.
