Dhaka: The Council of Advisers, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, has approved two ordinances and three proposals during a meeting held at the Chief Adviser's Office in the Tejgaon area. The Cabinet Division released information confirming these developments.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the council granted final approval to the 'National Sports Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025' and the 'Moheshkhali Integrated Development Authority Ordinance, 2025'. Additionally, a proposal to establish a new Consulate General of Bangladesh in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, was cleared.
The council further approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at establishing a mission for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Bangladesh. Moreover, the council sanctioned Bangladesh's accession to the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OP-CAT).
During the meeting, discussions included the current flood situation in the country and the measures implemented in response. The Ministry of Water Resources informed the council about the finalization of the designs for the Musapur Regulator and Bamni Closure, the permanent dam construction project in Feni, and the importance of canal recovery and ensuring efficient drainage systems in Noakhali.
