A policeman was killed as a speeding truck rammed into his motorbike in Patnitola upazila of the district Sunday morning.
The deceased was Rulul Amin, 33, an assistant sub inspector of Patnitola police station and a resident of Joypurhat Sadar upazila.
Witnesses and police said Ruhul was going to the police station from Modhuil Bazar by his motorbike amid dense fog.

The accident occurred around 10: 30 am when the truck hit the motorbike on Nazipur-Sapahar Road in Chakabdal Kunchipukur area, leaving him dead on the spot, said Palash Chandra Dev, officer-in-charge of Patnitola police station.

The body was sent to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy, he said adding that it will be handed over to his family after completing legal procedures.
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
