Bagerhat: State Minister for Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam announced that a coordinated operation will soon commence to eliminate pirate activities in the Sundarbans. The state minister’s statement came during his visit to Khan Jahan Ali Mazar in Sadar upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation is part of a special plan developed in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and relevant organizations. Sheikh Faridul Islam emphasized the importance of protecting the Sundarbans, a national resource, from piracy and terrorism. He assured that comprehensive measures will be taken to safeguard forest resources, fishermen, and local residents.
The state minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to making the Sundarbans pollution-free. Present at the event were Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, former district BNP president MA Salam, and several BNP leaders and activists.
