Dhaka: A 31-member convening committee of Bangladesh Power Sector Diploma Engineers' Federation was formed today with Md Mir Hossain Patwari as convener and Md Rezaul Karim as member secretary.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee was established to address demands and secure professional rights of diploma engineers involved in power generation, transmission, and distribution. This formation took place at a joint meeting at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), chaired by AKM Morshedul Alam, an executive engineer of Northern Electricity Supply PLC (NESCO). The meeting was moderated by Md Aminul Islam, a Sub Assistant Engineer of Power Grid Bangladesh PLC (PGCB).
The newly formed committee includes representatives and leaders from various entities such as the Power Development Board (PDB), Power Grid PLC (PGCB), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO), NESCO, West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WCPDC), Ashuganj Power Generation Company Limited (APGCL), Electricity Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (EGCB), Rural Power Company Limited (RPCL), Bangladesh Electrification Board (BREB), Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS), Coal Power Generation Company Limited (CPGCL), and BR Power Generation Limited.
Senior joint convener Engineer ASM Rezzakul Haider, senior joint member secretary Engineer Md Aminul Islam, and member Engineer Md Obaidul Alam are among the other office bearers appointed. The committee aims to coordinate efforts to uphold the professional demands of diploma engineers and address instability and irregularities within the power sector. Additionally, the committee plans to draft a constitution and establish a full-fledged committee within the next three months.
