Construction Work of Bogura-Sirajganj Railway Line to Commence Soon: PM

Bogura: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today announced that the construction work of the long-awaited Bogura-Sirajganj railway line will commence shortly. “The railway line from Sirajganj to Bogura is one of the main demands of the people of Bogura. This work will begin soon,” he stated during a public rally organized by the BNP Bogura District unit at Altafunnesa ground this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister’s wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman was present on stage during the occasion, among others. Emphasizing the agricultural significance of Bogura and surrounding areas, Tarique Rahman expressed intentions to make local agricultural products available domestically and internationally. He promised to upgrade Bogura Airport for cargo flights aimed at exporting these products and mentioned that efforts are already underway.



The Prime Minister also indicated plans to introduce an agricultural engineering department at Bogura University and assured the development of the newly declared Bogura City Corporation into a well-planned city. Highlighting governmental steps to improve living conditions, Tarique Rahman shared that the BNP is gradually fulfilling pre-election promises, including the introduction of Family Cards, Farmer Cards, and honorariums for religious leaders.



Regarding economic and employment initiatives, he mentioned ongoing communications with various countries to create affordable employment opportunities abroad for the youth, with hopeful results expected soon. Additionally, he spoke about the revival of the ‘canal excavation programme’ originally started by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, aiming to excavate 20,000 kilometers of canals over the next five years to support farmers and ensure water availability during dry seasons.



Tarique Rahman concluded by asserting the government’s commitment to transparency and development, stating, “In democracy, differences of opinion will exist, but our goal is the development of the people of the country.”
