Rangpur:Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu inaugurated the construction of the 'Shaheed Abu Sayed Gate' at Begum Rokeya University, paying tribute to Shaheed Abu Sayeed, a key figure in the democratic movement and a heroic son of Rangpur.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Dulu emphasized the significance of Abu Sayeed's sacrifice, describing him as a symbol of the democratic movement. Sayeed's defiant stance against the autocratic regime, along with the sacrifices of approximately 1,400 others, contributed to the fall of the regime.

Regarding future developments, the Minister mentioned the Teesta Master Plan, expressing hope that work could begin in 2027. He also addressed the need to resolve the manpower shortage at Begum Rokeya University and announced government allocations for Rangpur City Corporation to boost employment.

The Minister concluded by acknowledging the social impact of drug addiction across the country and stressed the importance of a social movement to combat this issue. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including university officials, government representatives, and Abu Sayeed's father.
