Brahmanbaria:Construction work on the Sarail-Nasirnagar-Lakhai-Habiganj regional highway in Brahmanbaria has officially begun following the laying of its foundation stone. The project is estimated to cost Taka 396 crore.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inauguration ceremony was conducted by M A Hannan, the lawmaker for Brahmanbaria-1 (Nasirnagar) constituency, at an event held at the Nasirnagar College ground. The event on Sunday afternoon was attended by Zila Parishad administrator Sirajul Islam Siraj, Project Director Mufazzal Haider, government officials, and local leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations.
The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) reports that the Brahmanbaria section of the highway will extend approximately 25 kilometers and will be constructed at a cost of Taka 396 crore. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 2028, with the RHD responsible for its implementation.
Upon completion, the highway is expected to significantly enhance road connectivity between Sarail and Nasirnagar upazilas, the Habiganj district, and surrounding areas with Dhaka and other parts of the country. Additionally, the improved road network is projected to boost trade and commerce in the region.
