Habiganj: Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur today voiced concerns over alleged conspiracies being orchestrated both domestically and internationally to disrupt the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the country. Speaking to reporters following a public rally focused on the upcoming election, Nur warned of a potential disaster should the national parliamentary elections not proceed as scheduled next February.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally was organized by the district unit of Gono Adhikar Parishad in support of the party's candidate for the Habiganj-3 constituency, Chowdhury Ashraful Bari Noman. Nur emphasized the critical nature of the elections and dismissed the feasibility of holding separate votes for a referendum and the national election. He suggested that a referendum could occur simultaneously with the national election to legally endorse the July Charter, with several political parties showing agreement on this approach.
Nur also clarified the party's stance on alliances, stating, "We will not join any alliance. We have already started the election campaign." The rally was presided over by the organization's vice-president Sirajul Islam, with speeches from Sylhet Divisional Organizing Secretary Habibur Rahman Mizu, Habiganj District unit President Chowdhury Ashraful Bari Noman, leader Tahmid Hasan, and Member Secretary of the Habiganj District Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Mahdi Hasan, among others.
