Libya: The United Nations reported Wednesday that 42 migrants are feared dead after a rubber boat capsized off the Libyan coast. Only seven survivors were rescued after enduring six days adrift at sea.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the UN's International Organization for Migration released a statement detailing the nationalities of those missing. The missing individuals include 29 from Sudan, eight from Somalia, three from Cameroon, and two from Nigeria.
The statement further explained that the seven rescued survivors consist of four individuals from Sudan, two from Nigeria, and one from Cameroon. The incident highlights the ongoing peril faced by migrants attempting dangerous sea crossings in search of safety and better opportunities.
