Barishal: Election Commissioner Brig Gen Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (retd) issued a stern warning today, stating that the consequences would be “very severe” if evidence of bias is found against anyone involved in the election process. He addressed this issue during a meeting with law enforcement agencies, vigilance, and observation teams of Barishal district at the Circuit House auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Election Commissioner emphasized the importance of transparency in the election process. He stated that all parties involved must ensure there is no secrecy or concealment in carrying out election-related duties. If any wrongdoing or bias is detected, it will be publicly disclosed through the media.
Focusing on security, the Election Commissioner highlighted the Election Commission’s firm stance on maintaining order. He underscored that personal preferences should not influence the election process, emphasizing that their role is limited to exercising their right to vote as citizens.
The Election Commissioner reiterated his commitment to professionalism and called on all officials to fulfill their duties responsibly. He stressed that there is no distinction between small or big parties or heavyweight or lightweight candidates when applying the law. The commissioner warned that serious consequences would follow if officials fail to overcome personal biases, despite clear instructions.
He further addressed law enforcement agencies, asserting that maintaining order is crucial and that a firm stance would prevent any potential disorder. The meeting was chaired by Returning Officer Khairul Alam Suman, and Superintendent of Police Farzana Islam, along with other senior officials, were present.
