Consensus in National Interest is Crucial for Public Trust: Rizwana

Savar: Adviser to the Ministries of Environment, Forests, Climate Change, and Water Resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan emphasized that building consensus in the national interest is essential to gain the trust of the people. She made these remarks while speaking to reporters after honoring the Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar during the Independence Day celebrations.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizwana stated that efforts are currently underway to conduct a free and fair election to meet the expectations of the populace. She further highlighted that holding a fair trial for the killings that occurred in July and August remains a significant challenge. Rizwana expressed the government’s commitment to creating an environment of trust by ensuring justice through these trials.



Rizwana Hasan expressed optimism that all stakeholders would prioritize the national interest, indicating that reforms would be carried forward based on the people’s demands. She emphasized the importance of building consensus over time to propel the country’s progress.



In her concluding remarks, the adviser stressed the need to prioritize national interest over personal concerns despite the existing differences in opinions. She underscored that reaching a consensus is imperative, acknowledging that divergent views will persist, yet striving for unity remains crucial for the nation’s advancement.
