Dhaka: The government has formed a committee to examine and verify the proposal of the unification of six distinct investment-related bodies that was raised by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA). The bodies under consideration for merger include BIDA, Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this significant decision was reached during the BIDA third meeting of the Governing Board to consider the proposal for the amalgamation of investment-related institutions. The aim of the unification is to streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of investment management in the country. The committee will be responsible for examining all aspects of the merger, including potential benefits and challenges.

The proposal highlights the need for a coordinated approach among these bodies to boost investment opportunities and economic growth in Bangladesh. The committee’s findings will play a crucial role in determining the feasibility and implementation strategy of the merger.
