Dhaka: The government has announced the formation of a six-member committee tasked with establishing two distinct directorates, namely the “Directorate of Secondary Education” and the “Directorate of College Education.” This move aims to streamline and enhance the management of education at these levels.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was made following the approval of the Chief Adviser, who agreed to the separation of functions currently managed by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE). The initiative is expected to lead to more focused and efficient administration within the educational sector.
The newly formed committee is charged with drafting comprehensive proposals, which include developing separate organograms and detailed lists of functions for the new directorates. The Joint Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division will lead the committee in these efforts.
The committee’s responsibilities encompass formulating the Allocation of Business for the proposed directorates, adhering to the guidelines set out in the Rules of Business 1996. Additionally, they are tasked with preparing organizational structures, determining the distribution of duties, and finalizing the Table of Official and Equipment (TO and E).
The committee has been instructed to submit the proposed organograms along with all necessary documentation to the Government Secondary-1 Branch within a 30-day timeframe. The directive was issued in the public interest and has received the necessary approvals from the appropriate authority.
