DHAKA, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia today termed combating militancy and terrorism as his major successes during his tenure spanning over four years.
We collected data of house owners and tenants so that the terrorists can't stay in the capital by hiding their identities . . . the data of around 72 lakh city dwellers were stored with DMP, Asaduzzaman told reporters at a press conference here marking his last day in office as the DMP chief.
He said no act of terrorism occurred in the capital after the Holey Artisan Bakery attack as police collected necessary information of house owners and tenants.
Asaduzzaman said the DMP has installed CCTV cameras in many important places, including offices, markets, shopping malls and houses, to make the task of arresting criminals easier and quick.
He said Bangladesh is a role model of combating terrorism before the world.
