Sitakunda:Bangladesh Coast Guard intercepted 600 bags of urea fertilizer, valued at around Tk 21 lakh, as they were being smuggled to Myanmar from Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the operation took place at 12:30 am on Wednesday night, following secret intelligence. During the raid, two individuals were apprehended along with two trucks used in the smuggling effort.
The Coast Guard Station Bhatiari conducted the operation in the Banshbaria Ghat area, where they seized the fertilizer, weighing about 30,000 kg, as it was being loaded from a truck onto a cargo boat destined for Myanmar.
Legal actions are currently being processed concerning the confiscated fertilizer, the vehicles involved, and the detained suspects.
