Sundarbans: The Coast Guard, in two separate operations, successfully rescued hostages and confiscated deer meat, weapons, and ammunition from Koira in the Sundarbans. Additionally, a hunter was apprehended along with deer meat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq shared that the operations were based on secret intelligence. On Sunday morning, the Coast Guard Koira Station initiated a drive upon learning that members of the notorious bandit group 'Dulabhai Bahini' were present near the Nagjora canal of the Koira river in the Sundarbans.
During this operation, four fishermen held captive by 'Dulabhai Bahini' were rescued. The authorities also recovered a single-barrel gun, one live cartridge, and one blank cartridge. The robbers managed to escape upon detecting the Coast Guard's presence, resulting in no arrests.
The rescued fishermen have been reunited with their families, and legal proceedings are underway. In another operation on Monday afternoon, the Coast Guard Station Koyra arrested four deer hunters. The operation led to the seizure of 72 kg of deer meat, two deer heads, and 300 meters of deer hunting traps from the Maidapesha Canal of the Koyra River and surrounding areas.
