Cleanliness Campaign Marks Youth Festival in Sunamganj

Sunamganj: A green cleanliness campaign was organized in the district on Thursday on the occasion of the Youth Festival, with enthusiastic participation from local youth and volunteer groups. The initiative, led by the Zero Waste Brigade in collaboration with BD Clean Sunamganj, featured a playground cleaning drive and an awareness rally aimed at promoting environmental responsibility.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Department of Environment, Sunamganj District Office, and began with a rally at 11:30 am from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Participants paraded through key roads of the district town before joining the main cleanliness operation. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Samar Kumar Pal administered the oath to the volunteer cleanliness workers prior to the start of the program, encouraging them to uphold their commitment to a cleaner, greener community.



The event was attended by several notable figures, including Additional District Magistrate Sunjit Kumar Chanda, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Mohaiminul Haque, District Scouts Commissioner Kanan Bandhu Roy, Sadar Upazila Scouts Secretary Borhan Uddin, Sunamganj Environmental Protection Movement Joint Secretary Muhammad Aminul Haque, and Zero Waste Brigade member and BD Clean Sunamganj coordinator Samina.



Participants expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire broader community involvement in environmental conservation and sustainable waste management across Sunamganj.
