Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said city dwellers will resist BNP if the party wants to paralyze Dhaka.

He made the remarks while speaking at a peace rally, organised by Dhaka North City unit of Awami League, at Gabtali in the capital this afternoon.

Speaking as the chief guest, Quader said BNP has threatened that it will paralyze Dhaka city in October but the city will resist BNP men if they try to do so.

“They themselves will be paralyzed. They threatened that they will shut down the Ruppur nuclear power plant. If they exceed the limit, they will be made cool by pouring Russian uranium on their heads,” he said.

The AL general secretary warned the BNP that if BNP cross its limit, its situation will deteriorate.

Mentioning that the people have been suffering due to the price hike of goods amid the world crisis, he said this suffering will not be long lasting.

Prime Minister has been passing sleepless night by thinking of the country’s people and how to feed them, Quader said.

Despite price hike of essentials, not a single man starved to death, he said, adding: “If people survive, Bangladesh will survive, the Awami League will survive and the spirit of liberation war will survive”.

Chaired by Dhaka North City AL president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, the rally was attended, among others, by AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretaries SM Kamal Hossain and Mirza Azam, advisory council member of Dhaka North City AL Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Jubo League chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and Dhaka North City AL general secretary SM Mannan Kochi.
