Chinese Ambassador Engages in Talks to Boost Agricultural Cooperation with Bangladesh

Dhaka: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, today paid a courtesy call on Agriculture and Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the latter’s office here. During the meeting, they discussed issues related to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector, an official handout stated.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Adviser warmly welcomed the Chinese envoy and emphasized China’s role as a long-standing development partner of Bangladesh. He highlighted that diplomatic ties between the two nations have spanned over five decades and expressed hopes for deeper relations in the coming years.



The Adviser conveyed his gratitude to China for importing mangoes from Bangladesh and made a request to increase imports of other agricultural products such as jackfruits and rice in the upcoming season. He also sought China’s support in modernizing Bangladesh’s agriculture sector through technology transfer, development of modern cold storage facilities, and training for farmers and agricultural professionals.



Ambassador Yao Wen affirmed China’s interest in enhancing cooperation in agriculture. He expressed China’s willingness to collaborate in establishing fertilizer plants, promoting food safety, and transferring advanced drone technologies for agricultural applications.
