Dhaka:China has shown interest in aiding Bangladesh in its fight against cybercrime by offering training, technical, and logistical assistance to the Bangladesh Police.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this proposal was made during a meeting between Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir and a Chinese embassy delegation led by Dr. Liu Yuyin, Chargé d'Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, held at the Police Headquarters.
The Chinese delegation expressed their willingness to help tackle cybercrime by providing specialized training, technical support, logistical assistance, and sharing expertise. The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh and China, emphasizing information sharing and joint efforts to combat technology-driven crimes.
Discussions included telecom-based fraud and other forms of cybercrime, stressing the importance of exchanging information and operational experience to counter such crimes effectively. The Chinese assistance is expected to enhance the skills and technical capabilities of Bangladesh Police in addressing sophisticated cyber threats.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted both countries' interest in developing long-term cooperation in cybercrime prevention through capacity-building, training, and technical collaboration. Senior officials of Bangladesh Police were in attendance at the meeting.
