Dhaka:Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has declared that influential quarters are supporting teen gangs, and he has vowed to eliminate their activities within three months.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Moni made these remarks during a shadow parliament session titled 'Social Movement is More Effective than Political Goodwill in Preventing Teen Gangs,' organized by 'Debate for Democracy' at the FDC in the capital.
He emphasized that teenagers should focus on education, carrying books and notebooks instead of weapons, and work towards becoming skilled in artificial intelligence and robotics. Moni accused those involved in current terrorist activities of having a history of similar behavior under the previous regime and stated that efforts are underway to identify and filter out such individuals.
Moni also asserted that the government does not support the formation of violent groups and called for an end to blame-game politics. He warned against the use of obscene language and the spread of misinformation on social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook, promising action against offenders.
He affirmed that the government, operating with the mandate of the people, would ensure punishment for those involved in criminal activities. He cited the resignation of BNP reserved women's seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Mishti after a vandalism incident as a strong message against irregularities.
Moni concluded by stating that crime control efforts have begun at home but emphasized the need for collective efforts to advance the country. The session was presided over by 'Debate for Democracy' Chairman Hassan Ahamed Chowdhury Kiron.
