Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today extended his heartfelt greetings to the countrymen and Muslims across the globe on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha. In his message on the eve of the festival, he expressed hope that the holy Eid-ul-Azha will usher in welfare for all, fostering the spirit of sacrifice among everyone.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser remarked that Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims, represents a profound symbol of devotion and ultimate sacrifice to Allah Almighty. He highlighted the exemplary act of love, obedience, and sacrifice demonstrated by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), who was willing to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) at Allah’s command, as an unparalleled lesson in history.
The Chief Adviser emphasized that the act of animal sacrifice, or Qurbani, instills a spirit of self-sacrifice and teaches the importance of sharing both joy and sorrow with relatives and neighbors. It also serves as a lesson in tolerance. Through the annual celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, Muslims create a bond of solidarity and equality by distributing the meat from the sacrificed animals to relatives and those in need.
Professor Muhammad Yunus noted that Eid-ul-Azha promotes peace, compassion, sacrifice, and brotherhood. He stressed that the sincere wish of the Eid festival should embody sacrifice, self-purification, self-restraint, amity, and harmony among Muslims. He encouraged everyone to embrace the lessons of sacrifice from Eid-ul-Azha to build a new Bangladesh after the July Uprising, aiming for a discrimination-free, happy, prosperous, and peaceful nation.
Concluding his message, the Chief Adviser prayed to Almighty Allah for the continued prosperity and progress of Bangladesh and its people.
