Dhaka: Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus has extended an invitation to the BNP for discussions scheduled on June 2. The announcement was made by BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed during a discussion held in the capital today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salahuddin Ahmed expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of the ongoing talks between the government and political parties. He pointed out that while formal discussions continue, there has been little tangible progress. He emphasized the necessity for concrete actions to rebuild public trust, rather than just engaging in formalities.

Salahuddin further commented on the potential actions of the Constitutional Reform Commission, suggesting that any attempt to alter the constitution unilaterally would not align with democratic principles. He warned against imposing changes forcefully, likening such actions to the establishment of another Baksal.

The BNP leader also asserted the importance of holding elections under a neutral government as soon as possible. He stressed that the people of the country are eager for elections and there is no justification for delaying them beyond December.
