Dhaka: Police are expected to submit the chargesheet tomorrow in the case filed over the rape and murder of an eight-year-old child, Ramisa, in the Pallabi area of the capital, as the DNA test has already been completed. “The DNA examination process had been completed and the charge sheet could be submitted on Sunday,” stated Sub-Inspector Ohedujjaman Bhuoyan Nipun of Pallabi Police Station.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the investigation officer further mentioned that he is currently preparing the chargesheet while his seniors are examining various reports, including the DNA findings. Police confirmed that the accused, arrested on May 20, had provided a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid recorded the statement and subsequently ordered the accused to be remanded to jail.

Investigators revealed that the accused confessed to luring the child into a room before committing the crime. Additionally, it was reported that he attempted to destroy evidence and fled the scene afterward. During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to consuming yaba before the incident. Investigators noted that there was no prior enmity between the accused and the victim’s family.

The victim’s father, Abdul Hannan Molla, lodged the case with Pallabi Police Station on May 20. On the same day, police presented the accused and his wife before the court and filed separate petitions related to the investigation. The heinous act has sparked nationwide outrage, prompting rights groups and international organizations to call for swift justice and enhanced protection for children.
