Central character in rail tickets scam in RAB custody

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people, including the mainstay of the black market in then rail ticketing system, a systems engineer with a private online ticketing firm, from the City’s Kamalapur and Airport railway stations.

Based on secret information, a team of RAB-1 battalion picked up System Engineer of Sohoz.com Md. Rezaul Karim (38) from the company’s server room located on the 2nd floor of Kamalapur railway station, to its Uttara battalion headquarters for interrogation and further analysis of the data aiming to identify others involved in the scam. black marketing, said media officer of the Rab-1 battalion ASP Noman Ahmed.

Rezaul Karim provided important information related to the railway ticket black market. But at one stage of the interrogation, he made contradictory statements. Then his used mobile phone was monitored and Md. Rezaul Karim’s direct involvement was found.

Based on his information, the elite force conducted a raid at Airport railway station on Wednesday night and arrested his associate Md. Emranul Alam Sarat (26) for selling his black market ticket. During this time, a large number of illegally collected railway e-tickets were seized from the smartphones used by both of them, the Media officer of RAB-1 added.

During interrogation, Rezaul Karim revealed that he has been involved in railway ticketing for the last 6 years. Prior to Sohoz.com, he also worked at CNS.bd. When Sohoz.com became responsible for railway tickets, he was reinstated as an experienced worker.

During interrogation, Rezaul Karim also revealed that he used to illegally remove about 2-3 thousand railway tickets during the Eid season every year.

He admitted that he used to earn about Tk 10-12 lakh illegally every season. Accused Rezaul Karim has several salesmen who are involved in selling these black market tickets at various railway stations.

Rezaul Karim said that he used to sell tickets to his personal acquaintances at an extra price of around Tk 500 per ticket. On the other hand, in case of sale through black market ticket sellers, an additional amount of Tk1000/1500 was charged. He claimed that he had been doing this without any hesitation as he used to meet the demand of various’ VIPs’ tickets on the railways.

Rezaul Karim said that he used to sell tickets to his personal acquaintances at an extra price of around Tk 500 per ticket. On the other hand, in case of sale through black market ticket sellers, an additional amount of Tk1000/1500 was charged.

He claims to have done it without any hesitation to meet the demand of various’ VIPs for tickets on the railways.
