Centenary of Poet Nazrul’s Sylhet Visit to Be Celebrated with Festivity: Ariful

Sylhet: Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury announced that the centenary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s visit to Sylhet will be celebrated in a befitting and festive manner. He shared these plans while speaking at a view-exchange meeting of the executive committee of the Central Muslim Literary Society, held at its hall room in the city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister urged enthusiasts of poet Nazrul, both at home and abroad, to actively participate in the centenary programme and offer their cooperation to make the event memorable. He emphasized the significant contributions of the literary society to the development of Bangla language and literature and encouraged initiatives to further expand its activities, with assurances of full government support.



The minister also mentioned plans to convert the society’s existing commercial building into a multi-storey structure, indicating that this process will commence soon. The meeting was presided over by the organisation’s president, language veteran Principal Masud Khan, and conducted by its General Secretary Selim Auwal.



Sylhet city BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury, JASAS Sylhet district convener Principal Nizam Uddin Torofdar, and its member secretary Raihan Hossain Khan attended the meeting as special guests, among others.
