CEC makes courtesy call on President

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban this afternoon.

During the meeting, the CEC apprised the President of the overall activities of the Election Commission and sought the President's cooperation in discharging duties bestowed upon the commission.

He also informed the President that the construction of the commission's 13-storey building in Agargaon will be completed soon and invited the President to inaugurate it in the last week of December.

The President's Press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

The CEC also apprised the President of the EC's preparation to hold Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls and elections to 61 Zila Parishads.

The NCC election is scheduled to be held on December 22 while Zila Parisha election on December 28.

Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad said the commission will make all-out efforts to ensure security during the elections.

President Abdul Hamid asked the commission to take necessary steps to hold the polls in a free and fair manner.
