New film, ‘EXODUS’, provides unique window into lives of Rohingyas: Fortify Rights

Fortify Rights and Doha Debates have released “EXODUS,” a 23-minute documentary film that delves into the lives of three young Rohingya refugee photographers from Myanmar living in one of the world’s largest refugee camps.

The film follows the stories of Omal Khair, Dil Kayas, and Azimul Hasson, three Rohingya survivors of genocide forced out from their homes in Rakhine State during Myanmar-military-led clearance operations of 2017.

The film is set to be released on August 25, the anniversary of the onset of genocidal attacks in Myanmar that forced more than 700,000 Rohingyas to take shelter in Bangladesh.

“The Myanmar military weaponized social media, using Facebook to spread calls for violence against Rohingya,” said Taimoor Sobhan, Senior Multimedia Specialist at Fortify Rights, a human rights body.

“This film project is about Rohingya refugees reclaiming their narrative on social media. The film serves as a reminder that social media can also be a powerful tool for collective good.”

“EXODUS,” directed by Taimoor Sobhan, features the three refugees as they visually document life inside refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

The film explores how Omal Khair, Dil Kayas, and Azimul Hasson use photography and social media, providing a unique window into the everyday life of Rohingya refugees.

Since 2018, Fortify Rights, in partnership with Doha Debates, which unites, empowers and inspires young people to become impassioned, informed leaders, provided on-the-ground photography and media-skills training for the three young Rohingya refugees featured in the documentary film.

The organizations equipped the three “media fellows” with mobile phones, and the fellows have since documented their lives and the lives of others in Cox’s Bazar refugee camps on Instagram, amassing thousands of followers.

In 2021, the trio, along with Fortify Rights and Doha Debates, won a Shorty Award in recognition of the work that became the subject of EXODUS.

Amjad Atallah, Doha Debates’ managing director, said, “Omal, Dil and Azimul’s extraordinarily compelling photography is all the more remarkable given the challenges they face in the world’s largest refugee camp. This film documents their story in touching, inspiring ways. Doha Debates is proud to have teamed up with Fortify Rights to help and support Omal, Dil and Azimul and to provide an outlet for their work.”

“A special team of Rab conducted a drive and arrested four of the gang from different areas of the district on Wednesday midnight. The members in the gang will be held soon and all the stolen goods will be recovered,” he said firmly.

The arrestees have been identified as Anwar Hossain, 30, Abdur Jabbar, Mokhlesur Rahman, 48 and Laltu Mia.

A group of armed men stopped three Dhaka-bound night buses in the district on Monday night and robbed passengers of cash, jewellery and other valuables, police said.

Heavy rains lead to horrific waterlogging in parts of Chattogram

Incessant rains since Tuesday night sent low-lying areas of Chattogram city under water, causing indescribable sufferings to its residents.

Waterlogging continues to haunt the residents of the port city as its authorities have so far failed to resolve the protracted problem.

People living in Halishahar, Bakolia, Agrabad CDA, Bahaddarhat, Sholoshohor, No 2 Gate, Muradpur, Prabartak and Chawkbazar areas are experiencing the unusual waterlogging following the heavy rainfalls.

Some people were seen wading through knee-deep water to reach their destinations in the morning. At some places, the officer-goers had to pay extra fares to reach their workplaces, reports the UNB correspondent after visiting different affected areas.

According to the local Met office, the active monsoon triggered the rains and that may continue for another two days.

“The rains may continue for two more days. The Met office recorded 28 mm rainfall till 9 am today, and this is happening due to active monsoon,” said Sheikh Farid Ahmed, meteorologist of Patenga Met office.

Idris Ali, a resident of Sholoshohor area, said: “Just one hour of rain is enough to drown the city, and that’s because of the authorities’ negligence. I’ve been waiting here for an hour but no vehicle is available to catch.”

Female office-goers are the worst sufferers as they have to wade through knee-deep water to go to their workplaces.

At some places, CNG-run auto-rickshaws went out of order as rainwater entered their hosepipes, forcing the drivers to manually push them ahead.

Nasima Akhter, a garment worker, said: “I’ve got stuck here in No-2 Gate area as all the roads have gone under water. More worrying is that the rickshaw-pullers were demanding excess fares taking advantage of the situation.”

Minister worried

LGRD Minister Tajul Islam at a programme recently said authorities will soon take up the issue of reported faulty designs in the infrastructure built to solve the waterlogging problem in the port city of Chattogram.

“Issues regarding waterlogging in Chattogram will be taken care of soon in coordination with the agencies concerned, including the Ministry of Water Resources, Chattogram Development Authority, Port Authority and City Corporation,” the minister said.

Ai and Future of Content Writing: Will Artificial Intelligence replace writers?

Over the past few years, machine learning and artificial intelligence specialists have been working on algorithms. These algorithms are proficient enough to write articles and different other forms of content, maintaining a level of quality that was previously possible only by human writers. As such technologies progress, mankind will be closer to a day when machines can create content better than humans. But how near are we to the days when machine writers will outperform humans? Or are the days of human writers already over? Or, can AI replace the human writers? Stay with us to get your answers.

What is an Ai Writer

Artificial intelligence is the effort to replicate human intelligence in machines. It is a section of computer science that studies the works on the possibility of making machines think and work like a human. Ai gives machines the ability to do what people can do but in less time and in much better quality.

An Ai writer researches and writes content using its algorithm. The practice of using them for daily content creation has already begun putting a question on the future of content writing as a professional endeavor.

Writing Process of Ai Writers

Technologies like deep learning and also natural language processing are two different segments of Ai. Combined, these technologies can search infinite databases for specific information to write.

Deep learning technology mimics the way the human brain handles data and various patterns. Natural language processing attempts to evaluate and use languages the way the human brain does. To produce articles and news, AI writing systems learn the principles of writing and different sentence structures.

Limitations of Ai Writing System

Like every applied branch of studies, Ai technology is evolving. So are the Ai writing machines. However, there are some key aspects where they haven’t become proficient enough yet. Based on the nature of these aspects, Ai technology still has a far way to go to master all of them.

Natural Language Generation

Natural language generation (NLG) is one of the biggest challenges in AI writing. Recently, the NLG process has gone through a development reflected in a number of applications. Among them, the most visible is the advent of digital assistants.

Assistants like Alexa and Siri have grown very effectively at learning to comprehend basic human speech and responding to it, thanks to the advancement in natural language recognition. However, learning to recognize human language and attempting to write it are two totally different challenges, and training an algorithm to write in an intelligible manner is quite difficult.

Information Analysis

An AI writing algorithm must understand a topic before it produces an article on that. Ai still lacks a conscious learning and comprehension ability. To attain these abilities, the algorithm must learn to seek, ingest, evaluate, and reprocess data from various sources to generate reliable stuff.

This is easy in certain situations; algorithms can quickly search up instant stock values and make reports on them. It’s nearly difficult in others; computers can’t assess the happenings of a blurry film. Nor it can still tell the data it is providing is reliable or not.

Creative Ideas

Almost all types of writing rely on creativity, originality. Authors must invent new ideas or viewpoints and convey them to the readers in some engaging way. The spark of creativity that triggers new ideas has yet to be developed in computers. It’s unclear how a coder might go about replicating this aspect of human thought. Though none can tell if it’s ever possible, we are certainly sure that Ai still hasn’t made it at this point.

Capabilities of Ai Writers

AI is particularly effective at activities that are mostly predictable, repetitive, and also objectively quantifiable. In some cases, an AI system can do a specific task or solve a basic problem very rapidly and at scales that humans cannot reach. In terms of writing, AI systems find predictable, and patterned writing is trivially easy for Ai. They can write articles of this level a thousand times faster than a human writer.

Another significant benefit of Ai technology is its capacity to learn, understand and adapt, which might drive it among new terrains when it comes to patterned writing. Over time, these algorithms might be trained to judge the quality or rhetoric of the output they give based on a variety of criteria. Algorithms, given enough effort, time, and money, might learn to produce considerably more sophisticated, arguably artistic works.

Why Can’t Ai Replace Professional Content Writers

Today’s content market is highly competitive, where audiences want to be emotionally engaged and interact with the information they are getting. They want to be moved. Ai still hasn’t achieved that ability to bridge the vacuum between generating text according to the expectation of the readers. It still can’t, and won’t, for an unspecified long time.

Professional content writers outperform Ai in selecting just the accurate and proper words that resonate with other people due to the complexity of human cognition and emotion. Every piece of content must help readers establish connections. Ai writing technology cannot compete with a real human with emotions, skills, experiences, and knowledge of a specific subject matter.

Ai writers still lack these key criteria that are must-have in a content writer:

Understanding and imposing unique tone: Different media talks in different tones. A film critique will never narrate his review on a film the way a sport critique narrated a game.

Using compelling synonyms: Choosing the appropriate synonym to reflect the most appropriate sense can’t be made with an Ai writer. Only humans have such subtility and sharpness to feel out the proper word.

Bring authenticity: Ai writers can’t write contents that will make a difference and bring new ideas to the world. It can’t speak for a company according to the brand value and tone.

Understanding audience: Human writers can empathize with the pain point of their audiences and write from that level which will never be possible for an Ai writer.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is a new phone that has just been set to be released by the Korean electronics company Samsung on 3rd September. And it will be the first smartphone of the series to be available to consumers with a 5G connection. This article will expedite an overview of the Galaxy A52s 5G phone and some pros and cons for those who are considering buying this phone. We will also go over why Samsung expects the demand to be high for this new model.

Full Specification of Samsung A52s 5G

Design

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is a phone with an argument for itself. It takes the design and performance of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy E52. It is a phone with a glass front and plastic back, and a metal frame is used to room all the components. Buttons are on the phone’s right side and consist of a power button and volume rockers. Users will get an in-display fingerprint sensor. USB Type-C charging port and speaker, along with a 3.5mm port is placed on the bottom of the phone. The top of the phone is where you will find the nano-SIM card slot.

The dimension of the phone is 159.9 x 75.1 x 8.4 mm with a weight of 189g. The phone will be available in four distinct colors: Awesome Black, Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Purple, Awesome Mint. Altogether, the phone happens to offer a premium look and feel even with a plastic back.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g’s display is exceptionally well-specified. It boasts a 6.5-inch super AMOLED IPS display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a brightness level of 800nits. The bezels are consistently smaller all around, and the cut-out for the selfie camera looks elegant with a punch-hole design.

The brightness level of the phone is great, and users won’t suffer any trouble operating the phone even in broad sunlight. The color calibration is also quite good. The display carries a higher resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

Samsung always spreads special fragrances when it comes to displaying quality. The same is trues for the Galaxy A52s display. The color composition and touch-sensing ability both are at their peak level. The display will give a top-notch experience to the consumers.

The Rear Cameras

When it comes to its cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g doesn’t differ much from its predecessors. A 64MP primary lens, a 12MP ultrawide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth lens are included. All of the lenses in the camera interface are contained in individual punch-holes. The camera interface rooms four punch holes in total, with one additional for the flash.

The 64MP camera performs admirably. It takes great photographs in nearly every lighting condition. The resultant images have a high level of clarity, almost zero noise, and a bit oversaturated appearance, making them look vibrant when shared on various social networking platforms.

During the day, the 12MP ultrawide sensor performs admirably, generating images with a color profile similar to that of the main lens. When it comes to the 5MP macro, it may be a little difficult to use; the fixed-focus part requires a lot of work, and the final images aren’t up to pace. Video recording is certainly acceptable, with up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second.

The Front Lens

The front-facing camera follows the trend going in the mid-range smartphones market, offering a resolution of 32MP. Samsung A52s’ selfie camera captures images that depict great details and look vivid. There’s a larger dynamic range, while the portrait mode functions well in edge detection and giving elegant portraits.

Performance, Software & UI

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G 6nm CPU powers the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G. Though the processor is not new and is used in most mid-range phones nowadays, it is still a super-powerful processor. The extra 5G support is another nice bonus to the users that will come in handy once the 5G technology is completely adopted all across the world.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g runs OneOS 3.1, which is based on Android 11. The user interface is quite fluid, and it includes a plethora of new features like a dark mode, basic color customization, and more. The firm has tried to create more subtle software and to provide additional customization choices. Bloatware and numerous alerts might detract from the pleasure, although most of them are tolerable.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g is a present for gamers. They are able to play PUBG and also Call of Duty at a higher resolution with no lag or delay in execution. Asphalt 9 has also provided a good gaming experience, owing to the powerful Adreno 642L GPU.

Battery and Charging

With its 4500mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G may easily last a whole day. It is also simple to charge the phone. The Samsung normal 25W charger takes a couple of hours to fully charge the battery. This is very handy when users need to get somewhere quickly and don’t have enough time to wait for a quick refill.

How to find your passion for a more fulfilling career

Time and again we have been told to follow our passion. There’s a saying that if you find your passion, you will never have to work a day in your life. Now the question arises that how one can find one’s passion? Many people start something and make good progress in their careers. But as time goes by, they seem to hit a barrier which they can’t quite overcome. In this article, we will look at some of the ways you can rekindle your career through renewed passion.

How do you find your passion in your career

Search for your “flow state”

Every person has efficiency at something or the other. It’s the things that we enjoy doing because we are masters of it. Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi defines this state of enjoying something as a flow state.

When you are climbing the career ladder, you will often be tasked with things that you don’t enjoy. And that’s completely alright. Not all of us are jack of all trades. If you feel that something that you are doing isn’t providing innate satisfaction, it’s probably time for you to look for your flow state. Find something that keeps you engaged where you feel the work is effortless. Once you do that, it will become much easier for you to engage in work and find passion in your tasks.

Having a growth mindset

One of the reasons, why people reach a rut in their career, is because they aren’t incorporating a growth mentality. Building a career will come with new challenges. The problem arises when you look at these challenges as barriers and not opportunities.

Having a growth mentality is looking at every barrier as a developmental opportunity. A new challenge means something new to learn and incorporate into your skillset. A growth mindset will allow you to face your challenges head-on rather than avoid them at every step.

Reassess your skillset

Every step of moving up your career will be different than the previous one. Every new position comes with its challenges and solving them requires a different skill set. The question is, are you well equipped for the challenges?

People complain that they can’t find passion in their work because they don’t enjoy it. In most cases, the enjoyment doesn’t come because they aren’t sufficiently skilled for that specific task. While you are stuck wondering about your work, you should also take some time off to reassess your existing skillset. Understanding what is lacking and what can be done to acquire the missing skills will go a long way to rekindle the passion for work.

Creating the “T” of your career

Here is an analogy for the T shape career. Often, we put our central focus on a single task. You might be thinking that is the core aspect of a full-time job. But is it though? Do you have to drag yourself into a boring routine over and over again? The truth is you don’t. And that is where the T career comes.

It’s like having a central pillar which is your core career. Just like the two hands of a T, you can have other self-fulfilling activities to coincide and complement your core job. Sometimes following your passion alone won’t ensure bread and butter. Instead, you can kindle and channel your passion through things you like doing as a side hustle. That way, you will always have economic safety as well as rejuvenation from doing things you like doing.

Set finances aside

Let’s be honest, we’re always concerned about making money. It’s the prime reason why people wake up every morning to go to work. What if human beings do not need to worry about money? Almost everyone would leave their job. This is because money acts as a constraint to passion.

Take some time off from your usual activities and reflect on your life. What will you do if you are free from the worry of earning money? Is it something that aligns with your existing responsibilities? If so, then incorporate them into your daily activity ledger. If it doesn’t, you can always go back to the T-shaped career approach.

Let ideas flow

There’s a saying that if you are bent on seeing the worst, you will only experience the worst. The same holds when it comes to finding passion. Are you sure you aren’t dead set about not letting passion through?

Often people become so pessimistic with their life that they don’t let themselves be motivated again. The existing works become a motion for them which they go on about. However, you should be open to ideas. You should let the ideas flow so that you can find what motivates you, what drives you. Look around, look for inspiration, you will be sure to find your cause.

Construct your umbrella

Passion can come from all sorts of different places. And oftentimes they might be completely unrelated. It becomes increasingly difficult to channel these different streams into a single work. As a result, many people fail to find the right passion for their workflow.

However, there is a workaround to this. Your sources of inspiration may feel disjointed with each other. But you can try and find a connection between them. If not all, at least some of it will work together to inspire you.

Know your limit

People will tell you that take a leap and the net will appear. As a matter of fact, that could not be away from reality. Real-life isn’t a fairy tale. You cannot expect things to go according to your whims. In search of passion, make sure you aren’t pushing your limit. You cannot leave everything just because you haven’t found your passion. As you keep searching for your call, make sure you have something to fall back on if you can’t make any headway.

We are also thinking about giving a short syllabus under our curriculum,” he said.

Referring to the Primary Education Completion (PEC) and its equivalent examinations the minister said “The decision whether the PEC and its equivalent examinations will be done on physical or evaluation basis, will be taken considering the situation. Earlier, in the day, the education authorities have issued some guidelines as part of preparations to reopen educational institutions which have remained closed since March last year due to Covid pandemic.

The teachers of primary schools have been instructed to return to their work places from Tuesday.

The Primary Education Directorate asked the upazila/thana education officers to inspect the schools in their jurisdiction within a week.

Besides, the Directorate of Secondary & Higher Education (DSHE) asked the regional directors to take necessary preparations to reopen schools and colleges.
