Dhaka: Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today nullified Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter’s concerns about the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) over the US tariff, saying she “misspoke over the matter”.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam emphasized that the non-disclosure of draft bilateral agreements is a well-established diplomatic practice. He addressed the issue following recent comments made by Adviser Farida Akhter regarding the NDA.

The press secretary assured that the interim government is fully committed to maintaining transparency in its operations. Alam added that the government “intends to request the US authorities to lift the non-disclosure clause when the tariff agreements are fully completed,” reinforcing the administration’s dedication to openness.

“She misspoke on this matter,” Alam reiterated, aiming to clarify any misunderstandings stemming from Akhter’s earlier statements.
