Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today called upon all citizens to immediately restore complete law and order in the country. In his statement, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that there are no further attacks on properties associated with the family of Sheikh Hasina, politicians of the Awami League party, or any citizen under any circumstances.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the statement acknowledged the anger of activists who have attacked properties, citing their experiences of tyranny under Hasina. It noted that despite Sheikh Hasina’s attempts from New Delhi to mobilize her militants against Bangladesh’s recovery, the government understands the activists’ sense of outrage.

Despite this understanding, the government urged citizens to follow the law to demonstrate to the world that Bangladesh respects the rule of law. The statement highlighted that respecting the rule of law differentiates the new Bangladesh, unified under the interim government, from the old regime.

The government’s appeal stressed the importance of not undermining Bangladeshis’ sense of security and stability, warning that any disregard for the law endangers lives and property. The statement called on citizens who overthrew the Hasina regime to prove their commitment to principles of civil and human rights and legal conduct.

The statement also addressed the need for champions of the new Bangladesh to avoid actions that could create perceptions of equivalence between current institutions and the ousted autocrats. It assured that security forces are aware of the importance of preserving law and order and protecting lives and property.

The government warned of strict actions against any provocations or attempts to destabilize the country, including the destruction of property. It vowed to bring those responsible for chaos and anarchy to justice.

The statement criticized the former fascist regime for leaving the country in ruins and warned that any attacks on their properties could be used to attract international attention and spread fabricated stories. It emphasized that the government is in the process of trying the regime for crimes against humanity, with global support.

Chief Adviser Prof Yunus concluded by urging citizens to channel their energy into peaceful and productive efforts to support positive changes, thereby realizing their dream of a secure and dignified Bangladesh.
