CA Returns Home Concluding Malaysia Tour with Strengthened Bilateral Relations

Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has returned home tonight, concluding his three-day state visit to Malaysia. The visit, which began on August 11, was marked by significant engagements, including the signing of five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and the exchange of three notes between Bangladesh and Malaysia.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim personally reached out to Chief Adviser Prof Yunus via mobile phone upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. During the conversation, Prime Minister Ibrahim expressed his intentions to further discuss the bilateral issues addressed in the delegation-level meetings during the visit in the Malaysian cabinet. The Chief Adviser expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by his long-time friend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during this landmark visit.

Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Ismail was present at the airport to bid a warm farewell to the Chief Adviser. During the visit, Prof Yunus engaged in bilateral talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar bin Ibrahim, where both leaders reinforced their commitment to strengthening ties between the two nations.

The visit also featured a significant academic honor, as Prof Yunus received an honorary doctorate degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He delivered a commemorative lecture at the national university of Malaysia. Additionally, Prof Yunus was called on by Sir Jeffrey Cheah, founder and chairman of Sunway Group, and Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary, a prominent Malaysian business tycoon.

The Chief Adviser was accompanied by a delegation comprising Advisers Dr. Asif Nazrul, Fouzul Kabir Khan and Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Special Envoy of Chief Adviser Lutfey Siddiqi, and BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, who all participated in various engagements throughout the tour.
