Khagrachari: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today announced that the Chief Adviser is implementing significant measures to ensure the transparency and credibility of the upcoming election, with approximately 90 percent of polling centers to be monitored through closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Supradip Chakma, speaking at a view-exchange meeting on the referendum and voter motivation campaign at Khagrachari Town Hall, emphasized that the forthcoming election would surpass traditional practices to enhance transparency and accountability. He elaborated that, in addition to CCTV monitoring, police personnel at each polling center would be equipped with body cameras, which will not have the capability to be switched off at will. The body cameras have already arrived in the country, and their distribution is currently underway.
The adviser assured that these measures would prevent any misconduct or arbitrary actions at polling cen during the election. Supradip also highlighted the importance of strengthening key institutions, such as the constitution, judiciary, electoral system, public administration, police, and the Anti-Corruption Commission, as part of building a modern state.
He further mentioned that achieving a modern Bangladesh could be possible by implementing the “July National Charter,” envisioned by the July movement. Supradip urged all concerned parties to support the ‘yes’ vote in the referendum to build a modern Bangladesh in line with the spirit of July.
The meeting was also addressed by Khagrachari Hill District Council Chairman Shefalika Tripura, Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, representatives of the July uprising, and officials from various government organizations. Khagrachari Deputy Commissioner Anwar Sadat presided over the event.
